Bellarmine Prep breaks meet, CCS records

Belles run No. 10 all-time mark in California to take over national outdoor lead in boys distance medley relay

Alex Scales, Tommy Rocha, Ben Micallef and Meika Beaudoin-Rousseau of Bellarmine Prep CA ran the fastest time in meet history in the boys distance medley relay Friday at the 42nd Stanford Invitational, clocking a national-leading 10 minutes, 3.67 seconds at Cobb Track and Angell Field.

Bellarmine Prep ran the No. 10 time in California state history, setting the all-time Central Coast Section record, eclipsing the 1965 mark of 10:10.28 by Wilcox.

The Belles also lowered the meet standard of 10:06.31 established last year by Armijo CA, with Luis Grijalva on the anchor.

Bellarmine Prep was well under the 10:18.15 run by Hilton Head SC earlier Friday at the Pepsi Florida Relays to produce the fastest time in the country.

Only Jesuit from the Sac-Joaquin Section, with its state record 9:56.3 from 1986, and eight teams from the Southern Section have run faster in California than Bellarmine Prep.
